Bhagavad Gita Chapter 1 Verse 23 — Arjuna Vishada Yoga

योत्स्यमानानवेक्षेऽहं य एतेऽत्र समागताः | धार्तराष्ट्रस्य दुर्बुद्धेर्युद्धे प्रियचिकीर्षवः ||१-२३||
Transliteration
yotsyamānānavekṣe.ahaṃ ya ete.atra samāgatāḥ . dhārtarāṣṭrasya durbuddheryuddhe priyacikīrṣavaḥ ||1-23||
Hindi Meaning
।।1.23।।दुर्बुद्धि धार्तराष्ट्र (दुर्योधन) का युद्ध में प्रिय चाहने वाले जो ये राजा लोग यहाँ एकत्र हुए हैं, उन युद्ध करने वालों को मैं देखूँगा।
English Meaning
Let me see those who have come here to fight, wishing to please the evil-minded son of Dhṛtarāṣṭra.
Commentary
It was an open secret that Duryodhana wanted to usurp the kingdom of the Pāṇḍavas by evil plans, in collaboration with his father, Dhṛtarāṣṭra. Therefore, all persons who had joined the side of Duryodhana must have been birds of the same feather. Arjuna wanted to see them on the battlefield before the fight was begun, just to learn who they were, but he had no intention of proposing peace negotiations with them. It was also a fact that he wanted to see them to make an estimate of the strength which he had to face, although he was quite confident of victory because Kṛṣṇa was sitting by his side.

Sabko pata tha ki Duryodhana apne bure irado se Pāṇḍavon ka rajya chhinne ki koshish kar raha tha, aur isme uska saath uske pita, Dhṛtarāṣṭra bhi de rahe the. Isliye, jo log Duryodhana ke saath the, wo sab ek hi tarah ke the. Arjuna chahata tha ki wo battlefield par unhe dekhe, taaki wo jaan sake ki unka saamna kaun kar raha hai, lekin uska yeh dekhne ka matlab yeh nahi tha ki wo unse shanti ki baatein karna chahta tha. Saath hi, yeh bhi sach tha ki wo unhe dekh kar apne saamne aane wali taakat ka andaza lagana chahta tha, lekin usse apni jeet par poora bharosa tha kyunki Kṛṣṇa uske saath tha.
Chinmaya Commentary
पूर्व श्लोक में कही गयी बात को ही अर्जुन इस श्लोक में बल देकर कह रहा है। शत्रु सैन्य के निरीक्षण के कारण को भी वह यहाँ स्पष्ट करता है। एक कर्मशील व्यक्ति होने के कारण वह कोई अनावश्यक संकट मोल नहीं लेना चाहता। इसलिये वह देखना चाहता है कि वे कौन से दुर्मति सत्तामदोन्मत्त और प्रलोभन से प्रताड़ित लोग हैं जो कौरव सेनाओं में सम्मिलित होकर सर्वथा अन्यायी तानाशाह दुर्योधन का समर्थन कर रहे हैं।
