Bhagavad Gita Chapter 1 Verse 25 — Arjuna Vishada Yoga

भीष्मद्रोणप्रमुखतः सर्वेषां च महीक्षिताम् | उवाच पार्थ पश्यैतान्समवेतान्कुरूनिति ||१-२५||
Transliteration
bhīṣmadroṇapramukhataḥ sarveṣāṃ ca mahīkṣitām . uvāca pārtha paśyaitānsamavetānkurūniti ||1-25||
Hindi Meaning
।।1.25।। भीष्म, द्रोण तथा पृथ्वी के समस्त शासकों के समक्ष उन्होंने कहा, "हे पार्थ यहाँ एकत्र हुये कौरवों को देखो"।
English Meaning
In the presence of Bhīṣma, Droṇa and all the other chieftains of the world, the Lord said, “Just behold, Pārtha, all the Kurus assembled here.”
Commentary
As the Supersoul of all living entities, Lord Kṛṣṇa could understand what was going on in the mind of Arjuna. The use of the word Hṛṣīkeśa in this connection indicates that He knew everything. And the word Pārtha, meaning “the son of Pṛthā, or Kuntī,” is also similarly significant in reference to Arjuna. As a friend, He wanted to inform Arjuna that because Arjuna was the son of Pṛthā, the sister of His own father Vasudeva, He had agreed to be the charioteer of Arjuna. Now what did Kṛṣṇa mean when He told Arjuna to “behold the Kurus”? Did Arjuna want to stop there and not fight? Kṛṣṇa never expected such things from the son of His aunt Pṛthā. The mind of Arjuna was thus predicted by the Lord in friendly joking.

Jab bhi hum baat karte hain Lord Kṛṣṇa ki, toh humein samajhna chahiye ki woh sabhi jeevon ka Supersoul hain. Is wajah se, unhone Arjuna ke mann mein jo chal raha tha, usse achhe se samjha. Jab Kṛṣṇa ne "Hṛṣīkeśa" shabd ka istemal kiya, toh iska matlab hai ki unhe sab kuch pata tha. Aur jab unhone Arjuna ko "Pārtha" bulaaya, toh yeh bhi bahut maayne rakhta hai, kyunki yeh Arjuna ke liye ek khaas naam hai, jo uski maa Pṛthā, yaani Kuntī, se juda hai. Kṛṣṇa, jo Arjuna ke dost hain, yeh kehna chahte the ki kyunki Arjuna Pṛthā ka beta hai, jo ki unki maa Vasudeva ki behan hain, isliye unhone Arjuna ka rath chalane ka vaada kiya. Ab jab Kṛṣṇa ne Arjuna se kaha "Kuruvansh ko dekho," toh iska kya matlab tha? Kya Arjuna yahan rukna chahte the aur ladna nahi chahte the? Kṛṣṇa ne kabhi bhi aise vichar Arjuna se nahi socha, kyunki unhe apni aunt Pṛthā ke beta se aisa kuch ummeed nahi thi. Yeh sab Kṛṣṇa ne dosti bhare mazak mein kaha, jaise unhone Arjuna ke mann ki baat jaan li ho.
Chinmaya Commentary
भगवान् श्रीकृष्ण ने उस भव्य रथ को भीष्म और द्रोण दोनों के सम्मुख एक स्थान पर लाकर खड़ा कर दिया। एक कर्तव्यनिष्ठ सारथि के समान वे अर्जुन से कहते हैं हे पार्थ यहाँ एकत्र हुए इन कौरवों को देखो। सम्पूर्ण प्रथम अध्याय में केवल ये ही शब्द हैं जिन्हें भगवान ने कहा है। उन शब्दों ने उस चिनगारी का काम किया जिसने अर्जुन के अहंकार पर आधारित झूठे मूल्यों एवं धारणाओं के महल को जलाकर राख कर दिया। इसके पश्चात् हम देखेंगे कि इन शब्दों की अर्जुन पर क्या प्रतिक्रिया हुई और किस प्रकार उसका मन टूटकर बिखर गया।पार्थ का अर्थ है पृथापुत्र अर्जुन। पृथा कुन्ती का दूसरा नाम है। इस संस्कृत शब्द पार्थ में पार्थिव की गन्ध मिलती है जिसका अर्थ हैमृत्तिका निर्मित। यह सम्बोधन अत्यन्त अर्थपूर्ण है। इसका तात्पर्य यह है कि गीता सत्य का संदेश है जिसे अमृत स्वरूप भगवान् ने मनुष्य के सार्वकालिक प्रतिनिधि र्मत्य पुरुष अर्जुन को सुनाया है।
